SSSSSHSHHHHHHHH rapid through the shallow grey rocks our raft rides straight picking up speed through the rushing river, NNNSH side caroms off unseen substrate and spins us backwards we turn crawling to stay in the middle balance weight as it shifts and upturns off and back down on the water into the current swift until CRUNCH chunk of raft breaks off as we smack splash off a rock reef hard brace for impact but slowed to a stall where our raft is wedged stuck on its side above our head fast water rushing and wetting us cold as adrenaline spikes “LET GO” says Paul as our legs plunge try to find footing up to our chest core cold pushing us forward into our raft pinned against the rock, careful steps don’t get stuck and drown, “TRY TO PUSH IT OVER, READY? ONE, TWO, THREE!”…
